I have been going to Jones Beach for my entire life. While it may be no Caribbean, the beaches here are well-maintained and offer a wide variety of attractions on both the bay side and the ocean. Come check it out, and don't forget to come back!
Love the waves. The best place to be is field 6, parking is $10 per car per day unless you get a year pass. Enjoy the sun, and for other food and drinks walk to field 4, or grill your own at field 5, or end of field 6. It's one of the cleaner beaches in NY area. My family and I love going there as often as we can. Oh, there are busses too.
Excellent place to visit in the summer. You can spend the day at the beach and then catch a concert at night. The recreational activities have vastly improved over the years. They really have something for everyone there.
Choose your field wisely. If you choose wrong you may be listening to 5 different radios blasting different music. The park has stepped up it's field 4 atmosphere by adding a whole new area. It is worth checking out.
Many great memories at Jones Beach over the past 8 years, from long walks on the boardwalk viewing beautiful sunsets to sitting in the sand watching the waves crash. It can get a bit crowded in peak summer season, but walk a bit and you get away from the crowds (and garbage they often leave behind). Go early morning or after 6 for less crowded times, and get an Empire Passport to avoid paying each time you go.
